Costa Rica Summer 2021: Jungles, Peaks, & Shores
Northwest Arkansas students traveled to Costa Rica from June 16-26, 2021 to take part in biological conservation research and sustainability leadership initiatives. Students experienced all of the wonders of Costa Rica from the amazing plant and animal diversity, to learning about local sustainable farming practices, to zip-lining through the jungle canopy, and rafting or kayaking through the rainforest and in the ocean. Students also interacted with local communities and farmers to gain valuable insight into the native culture. Students will had the opportunity to work with scientific experts in the field to learn about the unique wildlife in the area and the current threats to biodiversity. In addition, students gained experience conducting hands-on conservation research while assisting with ongoing sea turtle research projects in the Osa Peninsula.
